MY COMMITMENT
I am here to help. I am willing to work hard along with my learners. As long as my learners are willing to work as hard as I am, I can almost certainly guarantee improved marks in mathematics.
I expect from the learner to work hard at their maths. They will write the exams; not me. Therefore, I try my best to teach them to understand the concepts. However, it is up to the learner to make the effort to assure improvement of understanding.
Should you join my maths school, your contract ends at the end of the academic year in November. New registrations and fees apply for the following year. Would you need to end the contract, please inform me, one calendar month before you leave. New students pay per lesson, and are welcome to commit after a few lessons, to receive lessons until November of the year (at academic year-end).
TO HAVE AT HAND DURING ONLINE MATHS LESSONS
It is best to sit at a desk or table during your online Maths classes, with enough light to see your books.
Please have with you a notebook (a writing book) which you can use for the maths in our classes, which is separate from you school maths. Also have your school textbook close. Please have at hand your pen, pencil, eraser, ruler, etc. I cannot guarantee effective online lessons if all your maths books and your calculator are not within reach during your lesson.
HOMEWORK
I do not give homework, as a rule, to provide the children the capability to master the homework given at school. But I do expect the children to go through their work which we did together in class, to re-do the sums we did together. Just to make sure that they can do the sums on their own, and that they understand and mastered the concepts explained.
LESSONS THAT CANNOT BE ATTENDED
Because of school activities like sport matches and music exams, some lessons cannot be attended. Please let me know one week/7days/5 working days in advance should you have to cancel. I try to re-schedule the learner into a different time slot, within 5 working days of the missed lesson. A cancellation fee of R100 applies should you have to cancel, unless we can reschedule the lesson within 5 working days, in which case normal rates apply. A cancellation within less than 7 days (5 working days) before a lesson, is charged at full fees. In case of cancellations on short notice, I will try my best to reschedule your lesson in which case you do not loose your payment.
Please note that cancellations are to be the exception, not the rule. 😊
I cannot schedule lessons on Saturdays, as our family keeps the biblical Sabbath. If possible, I can schedule extra lessons on Sundays and on public holidays.
LOAD SHEDDING
I am available to provide Maths lessons throughout load shedding. Please make sure that you are able to go online during your Maths lesson despite load shedding. If you cannot, the lesson and the fees are unfortunately forfeited.
FEES
I normally take the children for one lesson of one hour per week. Fees are payable in advance, and are charged monthly. Each student’s monthly fee provides the learner the time slot(s) in my schedule we agreed on. I teach during school terms and not during school holidays. I do not teach on public holidays that fall in the middle of term, but I can schedule extra lessons on public holidays.
