Who am I?

“Hi! I am Nina Snyman, a Mathematics Tutor to High School children, since 2014. Most of my learners attend a local high school, so I follow the work schedule as stipulated by the Department of Basic Education (South Africa). I support the hard work of the teachers by making sure that my students understand the work done in class, and empower them to do their homework every day.” I also help home-schoolers using a different curriculum from the South African DBE.

I am here to help!

I am willing to work as hard as my learners. As long as my learners are willing to work as hard as I am, I can almost certainly guarantee improved marks in Mathematics.

Some more details of myself:

“No,  I am not a qualified teacher.”

However,  I home schooled two of my own children for three years. ***If I may add – our home schooling was an academical HUGE success.***  I then realized that other home schooling moms need support to teach their children the subject of Maths, while these lessons came quick and easy in our house. I also picked up that other parents with children at school are also fighting a losing battle on behalf of their children. I started to help a few learners, working with them at a small desk, which quickly grew to a 8-seater boardroom table-arrangement and a big whiteboard mounted on the wall. I switched to online tutoring in March 2020. Since 2014 and still going strong.

My qualifications: Honors degree in Applied Maths, Stellenbosch University (1990); Masters in Hydrology, Univ of Zululand (2000); PhD in Hydrology, Univ of Zululand (2007).

My expectation from the learners is to work hard at their maths. They will be writing the exams; not me. Therefore, I try my best to teach them to understand the concepts. However, it is up to the learner to make the effort to assure improvement of understanding.
