I provide Maths tutoring for grades 8 to 12, as well as Admaths and AP Maths support.

WHAT YOU NEED FOR ONLINE TUTORING

My WACOM tablet makes online tutoring very similar to in-class teaching.

For online classes your child needs:

  • a computer or laptop or a cellphone (a cellphone is a bit restricted but works)
  • and internet (I have given successful online classes with limited internet access)
  • with ZOOM software/app. Install Zoom Client for Meetings from https://zoom.us/download?os=win (or somewhere there – Zoom changes the website from time to time…) Or simply follow the link on the ZOOM meeting invite that I will send you, and it will install the software and bring you into the waiting room of the meeting, from where I let you in at the start of your lesson.
  • I usually have my video switched on for the learners to see me. It is an advantage for the learner to switch on his/her video, for me to easier follow any reactions from my teaching. (From time to time slow internet communications can makes it necessary to switch off videos.)

I send ZOOM invite links to both the children and to the parents on the day of the Maths lesson.

I write on my laptop screen via my WACOM tablet. Through the Zoom session, I share my screen.

Preparation for an ONLINE Maths class:

  • Have your Maths books, pen, pencil, ruler, paper to write on and calculator at hand.
  • Best is to take the Zoom Maths lesson while seated at a table.
  • Have your Mind Action Series Maths book at hand. I will be working from it. If you have another Maths textbook, I will share material from my side.
  • If you have questions, you are welcome to email or Whatsapp it to me prior to the lesson. I will be able to display it on my screen, and share the screen via Zoom.

Load Shedding

I can continue with Maths lessons throughout load shedding. Please make sure that you are able to go online during your lesson time. If you cannot, due to load shedding, the lesson and the fees are unfortunately forfeited.
